Which output formats can I compress to?
JPEG, PNG, or WebP, chosen with a button group. JPEG and WebP use a maximum quality setting; PNG stays lossless.
How do I control the tradeoff between size and quality?
For JPEG and WebP, the slider sets maximum visual quality, not a guaranteed percent savings. The tool checks actual output bytes and can automatically retry lower quality if the first encode is not smaller.
Does PNG use the quality slider?
No. PNG is lossless here, so the quality slider is disabled and no quality retry is used. If the PNG export is not smaller, the original is kept unchanged.
What happens if the compressed file is not smaller?
The original file is kept unchanged with its actual format, filename, and bytes, and the result card says there was no size reduction instead of claiming a converted output.
