Core Web Vitals for Developers: What Actually Matters in 2026

Google confirmed in 2024 that Core Web Vitals are confirmed ranking signals - not just "signals to consider." If your site has poor CWV scores, you're bleeding organic traffic to faster competitors.

The Three Metrics

1. LCP - Largest Contentful Paint

What it measures: How fast the largest visible element loads.

Good: Under 2.5 seconds Needs improvement: 2.5s – 4s Poor: Over 4s
